Olivia Rodrigo Shuts Down Sabrina Carpenter Feud Rumors: “No Bad Blood”

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo has finally put an end to years of speculation about a rumored feud with fellow singer Sabrina Carpenter — and her message is clear: there’s no drama.

In a new cover interview for British Vogue’s April 2026 issue, published March 19, Rodrigo addressed the long-standing narrative that the two artists were rivals. She dismissed the idea as largely fueled by media hype and online speculation.

“I think she’s great,” Rodrigo said. “I’m so happy for all of her success too. I love the album she’s put out.”

Clearing the Air

Rodrigo explained that the supposed tension between the two has been exaggerated for years. Contrary to fan theories, she revealed that they’ve actually spoken multiple times and have always been on good terms.

“There’s no bad blood,” she emphasized, directly countering the “feud” storyline that has followed both artists since 2021.

Her comments confirm what many fans began to suspect after a viral moment at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where Rodrigo and Carpenter were seen hugging and chatting backstage — a moment widely interpreted as a sign that any past tension was long gone.

Looking Back at the Rumors

The speculation dates back to early 2021, when Rodrigo released her breakout hit “drivers license.” Fans quickly built a narrative around a supposed love triangle involving her High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-star Joshua Bassett and Carpenter.

The theory gained traction after Carpenter released her song “Skin,” which many interpreted as a response to Rodrigo’s lyrics — especially a line referencing a “blonde girl.” The internet quickly turned it into a full-blown rivalry, despite neither artist confirming it at the time.

The Pressure of Fame at 17

Rodrigo also reflected on how difficult that period was for her personally. At just 17, she found herself at the center of intense public scrutiny.

“I can’t believe people were that mean to me,” she admitted, recalling how uncomfortable it felt to constantly be asked about the situation. She also pointed out how the media often pits women against each other, turning speculation into headlines.

Moving Forward

Today, both artists are thriving in their own lanes. Carpenter is riding high on the success of her latest album, while Rodrigo is entering a new phase of her career.

She teased her upcoming third studio album — dubbed “OR3” by fans — describing it as more “joyful” and “laid-back” compared to her earlier work.
