Defenders Reunite on Set for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3

Marvel’s street-level heroes appear to be assembling again. New set photos from Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, currently filming in New York City, show several familiar faces from Netflix’s Defenders era together for the first time in years.

Images taken on April 3, 2026, in Brooklyn show Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Finn Jones (Iron Fist), and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) filming outside a courthouse. Charlie Cox, who leads the series as Daredevil, is already central to the show, making this the first on-set reunion of the core Defenders lineup since their 2017 crossover.

Colter’s appearance drew particular attention. He was wearing a three-piece yellow suit, closely resembling the “Sheriff of Harlem” look from the end of Luke Cage. The wardrobe choice suggests Marvel may be continuing elements of the characters’ original arcs rather than fully rebooting them.

The timing is notable. Season 2 of Born Again is currently airing on Disney+, with Ritter already confirmed to appear later in the season. However, these new set photos are tied to Season 3, which Marvel has already approved and begun filming ahead of its expected 2027 release.

Marvel has not released official plot details, but the presence of all four heroes points to a larger, coordinated storyline. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has previously said the series will remain grounded, focusing on “street-level” conflicts in Hell’s Kitchen rather than global threats. Even so, bringing together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist suggests a higher-stakes narrative within that localized setting.

The broader MCU context also supports this shift. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher has already been reintroduced and is set to headline a Disney+ special, The Punisher: One Last Kill, scheduled for release in May. Combined with the Defenders’ return, Marvel appears to be rebuilding its New York-based vigilante corner in a more unified way.

Fan reaction has been immediate, particularly around the reunion of Luke Cage and Iron Fist, known as “Heroes for Hire.” Finn Jones’ original portrayal of Iron Fist received mixed reviews during its initial run, so his return is being viewed by some as an opportunity for reevaluation within Marvel’s current continuity.

Filming for Season 3 is ongoing across multiple locations in New York City and Brooklyn. Season 2 continues to release weekly episodes on Disney+, airing Tuesdays at 9 PM ET.
