Hannah Einbinder Calls AI Creators “Uncreative,” Ignites Backlash

Actress and comedian Hannah Einbinder sparked widespread debate this week after delivering a sharp criticism of generative AI during a press conference for the final season of Hacks.

Speaking candidly, Einbinder dismissed people who create content using AI tools, calling them “losers” and “uncreative.” She argued that relying on AI undermines real artistic work and diminishes the value of human creativity.

“The people who make this stuff are losers. They’re not artists. They’re not creative,” Einbinder said. “They’ve wanted their whole lives to be special. And they’re not special.”

She continued with a series of pointed remarks, accusing AI users of trying to “rob real creative people” of their abilities. Among her comments, she added: “You will never be cool,” and mocked them as socially awkward, escalating the tone of her criticism.

Her remarks quickly circulated online, drawing strong reactions from both supporters and critics. Some in the entertainment industry agreed with her stance, citing concerns about job security and the erosion of human-driven storytelling. Others argued that her comments were unnecessarily hostile and dismissive of emerging technology.

Einbinder’s views are not isolated within the Hacks team. Co-creator Jen Statsky also voiced concern about the role of AI in entertainment, warning that its use is often driven by corporate efficiency rather than artistic integrity. She emphasized the need for safeguards to protect writers, actors, and other creative professionals.

The controversy comes as Hacks prepares to debut its fifth and final season on April 9, 2026, on Max. The upcoming season is expected to explore themes related to AI and automation, reflecting ongoing tensions in Hollywood over the technology’s growing influence.

Einbinder has built a reputation for outspoken commentary on political and social issues. Her latest remarks continue that pattern, placing her at the center of a broader cultural debate about the future of creativity in the age of artificial intelligence.
