In a brief statement, a club spokesperson said that after reviewing the situation, FC Basel concluded it could not “provide a platform for the artist in question.” The decision reflects ongoing concerns about Ye’s past behavior, including widely criticized antisemitic remarks and the promotion of extremist imagery.
The cancellation in Switzerland is part of a broader pattern across Europe. In Poland, the Silesian Stadium called off a planned June 19 performance one day earlier, with the country’s Culture Ministry saying the artist’s actions contradict national values. In the United Kingdom, reports earlier this month indicated that the government blocked Ye from entering the country, forcing the cancellation of a major festival appearance in London. In France, a scheduled show in Marseille has also been postponed following objections from local authorities.
Although Ye issued a public apology in early 2024 and attributed his past conduct to untreated bipolar disorder, European venues and officials continue to cite his previous statements as the main reason for denying him performance opportunities.
Despite these setbacks in Europe, the artist remains active elsewhere. He recently performed a headline show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 3, 2026, shortly after releasing his latest album, Bully.
