G-Dragon Apologizes After Wearing Shirt With Offensive Language on Stage

K-pop star G-Dragon is facing criticism after wearing a shirt with offensive wording during a performance in Macau.

He performed at the K-Spark music festival on May 2. During the show, fans noticed that the back of his long shirt had a phrase in Dutch that included a racial slur against Black people. Even though he wore a jacket, part of the shirt was still visible when he moved on stage.

Fans quickly pointed this out online. One post about the shirt gained over 1 million views, with people saying the situation needed attention and accountability.

His agency, Galaxy Corporation, released an apology the next day. They said they were sorry for the inappropriate wording on the outfit and admitted it showed a lack of cultural awareness. The company also said they will improve their internal review process, especially when it comes to styling and planning.

They added that they want to show more respect for the diverse backgrounds of global fans and promised to be more careful in the future.

G-Dragon himself has not yet made a public statement.

Fans have been commenting on his social media, asking him to address the issue directly. Some expressed disappointment and said he should personally apologize.

This is not the first time G-Dragon has faced controversy. In 2023, he was investigated over drug allegations but was later cleared. In 2025, he also drew criticism for naming his album “Übermensch,” a term originally from philosophy but later associated with Nazi ideology. He said at the time that he meant it as a symbol of personal strength.

The current situation has again raised concerns among fans about cultural sensitivity and responsibility.
