SKIMS Shipment Leads to Cocaine Smuggler’s 13-Year Prison Sentence in England

A truck driver in England was sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison after authorities found nearly $9.5 million worth of cocaine hidden in a shipment of SKIMS clothing, officials said.

Jakub Jan Konkel was sentenced Monday at Chelmsford Crown Court in Essex. Prosecutors said he transported the drugs last September on a ferry from the Netherlands to the Port of Harwich in England.

Border officers inspected Konkel’s trailer, which carried 28 pallets of clothing from Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS brand. While the clothing itself was legitimate, officers discovered 90 packages of cocaine hidden near the trailer’s rear doors. The drugs weighed about 198 pounds in total.

Konkel first denied knowing about the cocaine, but later admitted he had agreed to smuggle the drugs for about $5,300. He pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges before sentencing.
