Tina Knowles Says Blue Ivy Reminds Her of Young Beyoncé at Met Gala

Tina Knowles says her granddaughter Blue Ivy Carter reminds her of a young Beyoncé.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the Gracie Awards in Beverly Hills on May 19, Tina, 72, said she became emotional watching 14-year-old Blue Ivy at the 2026 Met Gala.

“She’s just like her mama because she’s a huge talent,” Tina said. “And because she is very poised.”

Tina said seeing Blue Ivy confidently walk the red carpet brought back memories of Beyoncé’s early career. Beyoncé was also about 14 or 15 when Girl’s Tyme later became Destiny’s Child.

Blue Ivy attended the Met Gala with her mother on May 4, wearing a white Balenciaga gown with sunglasses and silver heels. Beyoncé, who co-chaired the event, attended the Met Gala for the first time in a decade.

Tina previously said on the 3rd Hour of Today that watching Blue Ivy at the event made her cry because it felt like “déjà vu.”
