Police in Brentwood, Tennessee, confirmed on March 24, 2026, that no charges will be filed against Ritchson following a review of evidence, including witness statements and body camera footage.
The incident began over the weekend of March 22, after a dispute between Ritchson and his neighbor, Ronnie Taylor, about the actor’s motorcycle use in their residential area. Taylor had reportedly raised concerns about noise and speed.
According to investigators, the situation escalated on Sunday when Taylor stepped into the street and blocked Ritchson’s path while the actor was riding with two of his children. Ritchson was forced to drop his motorcycle to avoid hitting him, resulting in minor injuries.
Authorities say that after the crash, Taylor pushed Ritchson twice as he tried to leave the scene. In response, Ritchson struck Taylor several times until the neighbor stopped advancing.
Brentwood Police stated that while a possible reckless endangerment charge against Taylor was considered, Ritchson chose not to pursue legal action. The District Attorney’s Office agreed with the self-defense assessment, bringing the case to a close.
The incident initially drew widespread attention after a short, edited video surfaced online showing only the fight. However, the release of full footage and additional context appeared to shift public perception in Ritchson’s favor.
Following the decision, Ritchson briefly addressed the situation on social media, sharing a quote attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte:
“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
