The emotional interview was conducted by her close friend and colleague Hoda Kotb. It will air in two parts on the Today show on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27, 2026.
In early clips released by NBC, Savannah spoke openly about the pain her family is going through. She described the situation as “unthinkable” and said she wakes up every night imagining her mother’s fear.
She also made a direct appeal to the public, saying, “Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony.”
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was taken from her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson in the early hours of February 1, 2026.
Investigators found blood and DNA at the scene. A doorbell camera recorded a masked person disconnecting the device around 1:47 a.m. that same night.
Soon after the disappearance, several media outlets received ransom demands asking for millions of dollars in Bitcoin. Authorities are still working to confirm if these messages are real.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been leading the case. After nearly eight weeks of searching in Tucson, officials have started scaling back local efforts. The main command center has now moved to Phoenix.
Despite this, the investigation remains active.
Savannah is expected to return to her anchor role in April 2026, although no exact date has been confirmed.
The Guthrie family is continuing to ask for help and is offering a $1 million reward for any information that leads to Nancy’s safe return.
