The performance was set to take place at the Bell Centre as part of her ongoing Mayhem Ball Tour. In a message shared on Instagram Stories, the 40-year-old singer said she had been dealing with a persistent respiratory infection that had worsened despite rest.
Gaga explained that her doctor strongly advised her not to perform, warning that going on stage could negatively affect her health. She also acknowledged that she would not be able to deliver the level of performance her fans expect.
“To be honest, I don't think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve,” she wrote.
The singer expressed regret over the last-minute cancellation, especially for fans who had traveled or made plans to attend the show.
“I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down,” she said. “To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.”
The Montreal concert was part of the tour’s final stretch. Gaga is currently scheduled to perform next in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on April 9 and 10, followed by a final show at Madison Square Garden in New York on April 13. It is not yet clear whether her illness will affect those dates.
This is not the first health-related disruption during the tour. In March, Gaga postponed a Miami performance due to vocal strain.
Fans who had tickets for the canceled Montreal show are advised to keep them and watch for updates from official sources regarding possible rescheduling or refunds.
