Turner’s injury, reported in late March, was described as minor, with some sources suggesting to a possible back issue. Although she is known for performing many of her own stunts, insiders say the injury did not occur during filming. Even so, production was temporarily halted to allow her time to recover fully.
The shutdown, while brief, was handled in a way that avoided disruption behind the scenes. Crew members reportedly remained on payroll during the pause, and according to production sources, the delay is not expected to affect the show’s overall release timeline.
Filming has now resumed across locations in the UK and other international sites, with the project continuing at full pace.
The series is one of Amazon’s most high-profile upcoming releases and is being led creatively by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, best known for Fleabag. She serves as creator, writer, and executive producer, bringing a strong authorial voice to the franchise.
Alongside Turner, the cast includes a number of established names. Sigourney Weaver plays Evelyn Wallis, while Jason Isaacs appears as Atlas DeMornay, Lara’s uncle. Paterson Joseph takes on the role of Winston, the Croft family’s longtime butler. Additional supporting roles are filled by Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson.
This series is part of a larger Tomb Raider expansion being developed by Amazon, which aims to connect television, film, and gaming into a unified franchise. While details about the broader universe remain limited, the ambition signals a long-term investment in the iconic character.
With production back underway and no major schedule changes expected, the project appears to be moving forward steadily after its brief interruption.
