The dispute began when Stause commented on a TikTok discussing McPhee’s past relationships with ex-husband Nick Cokas and current husband David Foster. Stause criticized McPhee, writing that she supports “problematic men” and lacks “real inner confidence.”
Stause’s remarks came after McPhee performed Tina Turner’s “The Best” at Pratt’s event and reportedly changed the lyrics to praise him over Los Angeles politicians Karen Bass and Nithya Raman. Producer David Foster accompanied her on piano.
McPhee later responded to the controversy in a comment on social media, saying she was “just as confused” about the situation.
Stause continued posting about the issue, criticizing McPhee for supporting Pratt, whom she described as “Trump backed.”
McPhee first gained fame as the runner-up on Season 5 of American Idol and later starred in projects including Smash and Scorpion. Stause is known for roles on All My Children, Days of Our Lives, and the reality series Selling Sunset.
