Chyler Leigh Opens Up About Split From Nathan West After 20 Years of Marriage

Actor Chyler Leigh has spoken publicly for the first time about her separation from husband Nathan West after more than 20 years of marriage.

During an appearance on the podcast Books That Changed My Life, the Grey’s Anatomy and Supergirl star said the couple decided to end their relationship after realizing they wanted different things in life. Leigh said the split was mutual and that they remain on good terms while co-parenting their three children.

“I think getting to a point where my relationship with my ex had reached a point where it was just time,” Leigh said on the podcast. “It was time to let it go.”

She explained that although the separation was difficult, she wanted to avoid resentment and ongoing conflict. According to Leigh, both she and West recognized that their relationship dynamics were affecting their family.

“It just hit a point where it was like, ‘Okay, what you want and what I want aren’t really lining up anymore,’” she said. “I’d rather us be on good terms.”

Leigh also spoke about how past family trauma influenced their relationship and said they wanted to break unhealthy patterns for the sake of their children.

The couple first met in 1999 during an audition for a WB television pilot. Leigh was 16 at the time, while West was 20. They married in 2002 and later welcomed three children: Noah, Anniston, and Taelyn.

In addition to their personal relationship, the pair also worked together professionally. Both appeared in season five of 7th Heaven.

Leigh is widely known for her role as Dr. Lexie Grey on Grey’s Anatomy and for playing Alex Danvers in Supergirl and other Arrowverse series. West is an actor and musician recognized for roles in films including Bring It On, Miracle, D2: The Mighty Ducks, and Not Another Teen Movie.
