Lizzo Refuses to Settle Lawsuit, Says She’s Ready to Fight Claims in Court

Lizzo says she is willing to go to court instead of settling a lawsuit filed by her former backup dancers.

In an interview on CBS Mornings with Gayle King, Lizzo said settling the case would be easier, but she believes she is telling the truth and wants to fight the claims. She said she expects the case to be dismissed and is not afraid because she believes “the truth will come out.”

The lawsuit, filed in 2023, accuses Lizzo of sexual harassment and creating a toxic work environment. The dancers also claimed they were pressured into uncomfortable situations during a trip to Amsterdam and faced discrimination. Lizzo has denied all of these allegations. Her lawyers have described the claims as false.

Some parts of the lawsuit have already been dismissed. A judge threw out claims that Lizzo fired the dancers because of their weight. Lizzo has said she has never fired anyone for gaining weight and instead supports body positivity. She claims the dancers were let go for sharing a private recording without permission.

The rest of the case is still ongoing.

Despite the legal situation, Lizzo said she is staying focused and calm. She added that she believes in her music and her character.

Lizzo is also preparing to release a new album, Bitch, on June 5.
