Dominique McElligott Says She Has Retired From Acting, Declines Return to ‘The Boys’ Finale

Dominique McElligott, known for playing Queen Maeve in The Boys, has stepped away from acting and declined an offer to return for the show’s finale.

Showrunner Eric Kripke told TV Insider that he invited McElligott to make a brief appearance after the series ended this week. According to Kripke, the actress responded politely and said she had “kind of retired from acting” and was no longer working in the industry.

Kripke said there was “no bad blood” between them and described the exchange as respectful and friendly.

McElligott last appeared on The Boys in the season three finale in 2022. In that episode, Queen Maeve lost her powers after sacrificing herself during a fight with Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles. Although the character was referenced in later seasons, she did not return on screen.
