In a recent Variety interview, the 26-year-old actress recalled living in the attic of her family home in Australia while starring in the TV series Upright at age 18. She also worked at a busy Sydney restaurant, washing dishes in an open kitchen.
Alcock later gained international attention as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s House of the Dragon. She now stars as Kara Zor-El in DC’s upcoming film Supergirl, directed under James Gunn’s DC Universe plans.
Alcock said she is excited for young women to see the movie and is trying to ignore sexist online comments. She added that growing up online as part of Gen Z helped prepare her for public attention.
Supergirl, also starring Jason Momoa and David Corenswet, arrives in theaters on June 26.
