James Blake Requests Removal of Credit From Ye’s Bully Album

James Blake has asked to have his producer credit removed from Ye’s newly released album Bully, which arrived on streaming platforms on Friday, March 27, 2026.

In a statement posted on his direct-to-fan platform, Vault, on March 30, Blake explained that his decision relates specifically to the album’s closing track, “This One Here.” The song is an updated version of “Showtime,” an unreleased track from his earlier collaborative work with Ye on the scrapped 2022 project WAR.

Blake said the final version of the track has been significantly altered from his original production. While some elements remain, including aspects of vocal pitching and structure, he described the song as “majorly peppered” with new takes and different production choices. As a result, he believes the finished track no longer reflects his creative contribution.

He emphasized that his original version is “a completely different production in spirit” and stated that he does not want to be credited for work he did not ultimately shape or influence in its final form.

Blake also clarified that his request is not personal and is not connected to Ye’s past controversies. He framed the decision as a matter of professional and creative integrity.

Bully was released following a brief delay after a series of listening events. Although Ye had promoted the album as having “no AI” involvement, some fans and collaborators have questioned aspects of the final recordings.

As of now, “This One Here” still lists James Blake alongside Don Toliver and Quentin Miller in its writing and production credits. Industry sources indicate that updates to the credits may be made in response to Blake’s request.
