The Ryan Gosling has accepted an invitation to visit the set of Days of Our Lives after its longtime star Deidre Hall reached out to him on social media.
The exchange began during Gosling’s press tour for his new sci-fi film Project Hail Mary, based on the novel by Andy Weir. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Gosling praised soap opera actors for their work ethic, highlighting the demanding pace and memorization required for daily episodes.
Hall, who has played Dr. Marlena Evans since 1976, responded with an Instagram video inviting Gosling and Horowitz to visit the show’s set in Burbank.
Gosling quickly accepted.
“Deidre Hall, are you kidding me? Yes,” he said in a video response. “This is a very enthusiastic yes to a very cordial invitation.”
The actor also revealed that Hall—not traditional Hollywood legends like Marlon Brando or Robert De Niro—was one of his earliest acting influences. He said he used to watch the soap regularly in the 1990s, even pretending to be sick so he could stay home and catch episodes.
Gosling specifically pointed to Hall’s famous devil possession storyline as a standout performance, calling it an “incredible acting class.” He also praised soap actors for memorizing large amounts of dialogue—sometimes up to 10 pages a day—and delivering it in single takes.
Joking about the supernatural storyline, Gosling added, “I’m not worried about the possession, I’ll say a Hail Mary before I get there.”
While no official date has been set for the visit, Gosling told Hall he would be there “any time, anywhere.”
The moment has quickly gone viral online, with fans celebrating the crossover between Hollywood and daytime television—and Gosling’s unexpected tribute to soap opera acting.
