The incident happened Friday at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where Lauper kicked off her limited run, “Cyndi Lauper: Live in Las Vegas,” scheduled through May 2. While introducing her song “Sally’s Pigeons,” the singer was interrupted by someone in the crowd. She quickly addressed the disruption without stopping the show.
“I don’t know what the fuck you’re saying, hon,” Lauper said, according to video clips circulating online. “But please remember where you are, OK? Because if you’re trying to shade me, bitch, I’m gonna come for you.”
She continued, referencing her roots: “I’m from Brooklyn, and if I wanna fucking talk, I will do a tap dance if I fucking want.”
The crowd responded with cheers and applause as Lauper wrapped up the moment with a quick acknowledgment: “Sorry, that of course is not part of my people skills,” before continuing the performance.
The exchange quickly gained attention online, with fans praising the singer for handling the interruption confidently and keeping control of the show.
Lauper’s Las Vegas residency marks a new phase in her career following her 2024 farewell tour, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” which spanned 69 dates and concluded last August. Although she had suggested she would step back from large-scale touring, she has continued to perform at select events.
Earlier this year, Lauper appeared at the Hollywood Bowl in a concert that was recorded for a CBS special celebrating her career. She also reached a major milestone in November when she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Best known for hits like “Time After Time,” “True Colors,” and “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” Lauper remains an influential figure in pop music, and her Las Vegas shows are expected to draw strong crowds throughout the residency.
The opening night moment underscores that even after decades in the spotlight, Lauper is still willing to speak her mind—and keep the audience on her side.
