The dispute centers on a July 2023 performance in Bratislava that was canceled shortly before the band was scheduled to take the stage. A Slovak concert promoter claims the group—made up of Depp, Alice Cooper, and Joe Perry—was paid about $277,000 in advance but neither performed nor refunded the fee.
The two sides disagree on why the show was called off. At the time, the band said the venue was not finished and posed safety risks for both the audience and performers. The promoter disputes that claim, alleging the venue was suitable and that the real reason for the cancellation was Depp being hospitalized for an unrelated medical issue.
In their latest legal response, Hollywood Vampires are asking the court to dismiss the case. Their argument focuses on jurisdiction, saying a federal court in Texas does not have the authority to hear a dispute involving a European concert and foreign parties.
The lawsuit traces back to a troubled stretch of the band’s 2023 summer tour. Just days before the Slovakia cancellation, the group also called off a show in Budapest, Hungary, after Depp reportedly fainted in his hotel room. While the band has maintained that the Bratislava decision was based solely on safety concerns, the promoter argues the cancellations are connected and harmed the band’s reliability and reputation.
Despite the ongoing legal fight, Hollywood Vampires are continuing with their plans. The band has announced a European tour scheduled to begin in August 2026, with dates in several countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
The band has not made detailed public statements about the lawsuit beyond its recent court filings.
