Kanye West Delays France Show After Political Pressure

Kanye West, who is now legally known as Ye, has postponed his upcoming concert in Marseille, France, after facing strong political opposition and a recent travel ban from the United Kingdom.

The concert was originally scheduled for June 11, 2026, at the Stade Vélodrome. On April 15, Ye announced that the event would be postponed “until further notice.” In a post on X, he said the decision was his alone and explained that he did not want fans caught in the controversy surrounding him. He also said he is trying to show a sincere effort to make amends for past actions.

The postponement comes after growing criticism from French officials. Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan publicly opposed the concert, stating that the city should not host individuals who promote hatred or Nazi-related views. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez also indicated that authorities were considering legal ways to block the performance.

At the same time, Ye has been dealing with restrictions in the United Kingdom. On April 7, the UK Home Office denied his request for an electronic travel authorization, saying his presence was “not conducive to the public good.” As a result, the Wireless Festival in London, where Ye was scheduled to headline, has been canceled. Organizers have confirmed that ticket holders will receive refunds.

The backlash is tied to Ye’s recent and past behavior. In 2025, he released a song titled “Heil Hitler” and sold merchandise featuring swastikas, which drew widespread condemnation. Earlier this year, in January 2026, Ye published a full-page apology in the Wall Street Journal. In it, he said his actions were linked to a manic episode related to bipolar disorder and stated that he is not a Nazi or an antisemite.

For now, no new date has been announced for the Marseille concert.
