Nikki Glaser Jokes About Victoria Beckham’s Smile at TIME100 Gala Amid Ongoing Family Strain

Comedian Nikki Glaser took aim at Victoria Beckham during a monologue at the 20th annual TIME100 Gala on Thursday, joking about the fashion designer’s famously serious expression.

Introducing Beckham as one of the evening’s notable honorees, Glaser highlighted her achievements as a former pop star turned successful designer and wife of soccer icon David Beckham. She then quipped about Beckham’s reluctance to smile, asking what it would take to see her do so and adding that she was “one of the only British people who should.”

Cameras showed Victoria Beckham responding with a restrained smile while seated at her table, as David Beckham appeared amused, smiling and laughing beside her.

The moment came during a busy period for Beckham, who recently launched a new collection with Gap and appeared at the TIME100 Summit to promote her fashion and beauty brands.

Away from her professional work, Beckham has also been dealing with ongoing reports of a strained relationship with her eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham. According to recent media reports, Victoria and David Beckham have expressed a willingness to repair the relationship, including meeting under various conditions such as with a mediator or therapist.

However, Brooklyn Beckham stated in a January social media post that he did not want to reconcile with his family. He alleged that tensions had existed prior to his 2022 marriage to Nicola Peltz and accused his parents of controlling public narratives about their family.

Victoria and David Beckham have not directly addressed those claims. In a recent television appearance, Victoria Beckham said that she and her husband prioritize their children and emphasized the importance of family support during difficult times.
