Rihanna Becomes First Woman to Hit 200M Certified Singles

Rihanna has made music history by becoming the first woman to surpass 200 million RIAA-certified singles units in the United States, as of April 2026.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), her total now stands at 200.5 million certified units. This milestone is notable because Rihanna has not released a full studio album since Anti in 2016. Despite that, her older songs continue to perform strongly, largely due to streaming.

Recent certification updates helped push her past the 200 million mark. Her song “Unfaithful” was upgraded to 4× Platinum, while “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want” reached Platinum status. These updates reflect ongoing listener demand for her catalog.

Rihanna also holds the record for the most Diamond-certified singles among female artists. Diamond status is awarded to songs that reach 10 million units. Her track “Love on the Brain” was recently added to that list, increasing her total number of Diamond singles.

In overall rankings, Rihanna is now the third highest-certified artist in RIAA history. She follows Drake, who leads with 277.5 million units, and Morgan Wallen, who has 215 million units.

Industry analysts say this achievement highlights how streaming has changed music consumption. Under current RIAA rules, 150 on-demand streams count as one unit. This allows older songs to continue gaining certifications long after their original release.

Rihanna’s continued success without new album releases underscores the lasting popularity of hits like “Umbrella,” “We Found Love,” and “Diamonds.” Her catalog remains one of the most streamed in modern music, reinforcing her influence in the digital era.
