In a series of posts shared on April 12, 2026, on the social platform Threads, Rose, 40, described an incident she says took place nearly two decades ago at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne, Australia. According to her account, she was in her early 20s at the time and attempted to avoid Perry by resting on a friend’s lap. Rose alleges that Perry approached her, pulled aside her own underwear, and carried out a non-consensual act involving exposure and physical contact. She claimed the incident left her so distressed that she “projectile vomited.”
Rose said she has struggled for years to process what happened, explaining that she previously framed the experience as a humorous or drunken anecdote because she did not fully understand how to confront it. She added that it took her two decades to feel able to speak about the alleged assault publicly.
On April 13, Rose confirmed that she had filed a formal police report in Melbourne, bringing the matter into the legal system. Authorities have not yet announced any findings, and the case remains under review.
Katy Perry’s representatives responded quickly, issuing a strong denial. In statements to major outlets including Variety, a spokesperson described Rose’s claims as “categorically false” and “dangerous reckless lies.” The statement also suggested that Rose has a history of making serious allegations on social media that have been denied by others.
The accusations have drawn renewed attention to past claims involving Perry. In 2019, model Josh Kloss, who appeared in her “Teenage Dream” music video, accused the singer of sexual misconduct. Perry’s team denied those allegations at the time, and the singer later commented broadly on public accusations and “cancel culture” in interviews.
As of now, the situation remains unresolved. With a formal complaint filed and both sides firmly disputing the account, the case is likely to unfold both in legal proceedings and in the court of public opinion.
