The Voice Singer Dylan Carter Dies at 24 After Car Accident

Dylan Carter, a singer who appeared on The Voice, has died at the age of 24.

According to multiple reports, Carter died on Saturday, April 25, in Colleton County, South Carolina. Officials say he was involved in a car accident.

Carter was known in his community as both a performer and a local business owner. He gained national attention in 2023 when he competed on season 24 of The Voice. During his blind audition, he sang Whitney Houston’s “I Look to You” and received all four judges’ approval. His emotional performance, dedicated to his late mother, moved judges Reba McEntire and John Legend to tears.

He later joined Team Reba but was eliminated during the battle rounds.

After the show, Carter continued performing at local events in South Carolina. He was scheduled to sing at a “Music on Main” event in Moncks Corner on April 27, but the event was canceled following his death.

Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. shared a message of condolence, describing Carter as a talented singer and a kind person who brought joy to the community. He said Carter would be deeply missed.

Carter was also involved in charity work. He co-founded The Local Voice, a nonprofit group in Santee that supports women with breast cancer. The organization said Carter was “the heart” of their work and helped bring people together through his music and kindness.

In addition to music, Carter worked as a realtor and co-owned an RV park and campground near Lake Marion.

His death has saddened many in his hometown and beyond.
