He described the joke as “shocking” and accused the comedian of going “far beyond the pale.” Trump also linked the joke to the incident at the dinner, calling it a “despicable call to violence,” and urged ABC and its parent company Disney to take action.

Melania Trump also criticized Kimmel, asking the network to respond. ABC has not publicly commented on the situation.

Kimmel’s segment was part of a comedic “alternative” version of the Correspondents’ Dinner, where he used edited video clips of political figures for humor.

Authorities identified the suspect in the dinner incident as Cole Allen. He was arrested and is expected to appear in court. Reports say he had weapons and writings that suggested he intended to target government officials.
