Aaron Carter Wrongful Death Lawsuit Reaches Partial Settlement

A wrongful death lawsuit connected to the death of singer Aaron Carter has reached a partial settlement.

According to legal documents obtained by Celebrity Desk, a psychiatrist and a mental health clinic named in the lawsuit agreed to a confidential financial settlement in April 2026.

The lawsuit was filed in October 2023 by Aaron Carter’s ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, on behalf of their son, Princeton Lyric Carter. The case claims several doctors, dentists, pharmacies, and mental health providers improperly prescribed medications to Carter before his death.

The lawsuit alleges that Carter was prescribed drugs including Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, and Alprazolam without proper medical justification. It also claims the medical professionals involved should have recognized warning signs related to Carter’s mental health and substance abuse struggles.

Aaron Carter died in November 2022 at the age of 34. He was found unresponsive in the bathtub of his California home by his housekeeper. Authorities later determined that his death was caused by drowning after inhaling compressed gas and taking alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax.

Other defendants named in the lawsuit include Walgreens, a Santa Monica dentist, and a Santa Monica pharmacy. Court records indicate those parties have not reached settlements at this time.

The terms of the recent settlement were not made public.
