Baylen Dupree Says Neurologist Told Her She ‘Didn’t Belong in Society’ Before Mayo Clinic Confirmed Tourette Diagnosis

Reality star and Tourette syndrome advocate Baylen Dupree says a neurologist once told her she “didn’t belong in society” after her symptoms became severe.

Speaking on the May 26 episode of the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, the 23-year-old Baylen Out Loud star recalled that a doctor removed her Tourette syndrome diagnosis and said she would never work, drive or attend college.

Dupree said the neurologist later admitted he did not specialize in Tourette syndrome or movement disorders and stopped treating her. About five months later, doctors at the Mayo Clinic confirmed she “100%” had Tourette syndrome.

Dupree was diagnosed in 2020 and has since built a large social media following by raising awareness about the disorder. She has more than 12 million TikTok followers and stars in the TLC series Baylen Out Loud.

Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes involuntary movements and sounds called tics. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and are often affected by stress, anxiety and fatigue.
