Demi Moore says Hollywood should work with AI, not fight it

Actor Demi Moore spoke about artificial intelligence (AI) during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival in France this week. Moore is serving as a jury member at the 2026 festival.

When asked about AI’s growing role in entertainment, Moore said the film industry should accept that AI is becoming part of modern life.

“AI is here,” Moore said. “To fight it is a battle we will lose. Finding ways to work with it is a better path.”

Moore also responded to a question about whether Hollywood is doing enough to protect artists as AI technology develops. She said she was unsure, but added that the industry is “probably not” doing enough.

Even though Moore sees benefits in AI, she said technology cannot replace real human creativity.

She explained that true art comes from “the soul” and “the spirit” of artists, not from machines or technical systems.

Moore said AI may be useful in some ways, but it cannot recreate the personal emotions and experiences that people bring to creative work.

The discussion around AI has become more important in Hollywood in recent years, especially as studios and artists debate how the technology should be used in movies, television, and other entertainment projects.
