OnlyFans Creators Call Euphoria’s Cassie Plot “Cartoonish” and Misleading

Some OnlyFans creators are criticizing Euphoria Season 3 over its new storyline involving Cassie Howard, played by Sydney Sweeney.

In the latest season of the HBO drama, Cassie starts creating content on OnlyFans to earn money for an expensive wedding to Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi. The storyline has sparked backlash from real-life creators who say the show misrepresents how the platform works.

Several creators spoke to Variety about their concerns. OnlyFans creator Sydney Leathers said many scenes in the show are unrealistic and include content that would not be allowed on the platform.

“There’s just a lot that’s ridiculous and cartoonish about it,” Leathers said. She specifically criticized scenes involving “baby” role-play costumes and behavior, saying OnlyFans bans that kind of content under its rules.

OnlyFans’ Acceptable Use Policy prohibits content involving the exploitation or role-play of minors, along with other illegal or abusive material.

Former actress and current OnlyFans creator Maitland Ward also criticized the storyline. Ward, known for roles in Boy Meets World and White Chicks, said the show reinforces harmful stereotypes about sex workers.

“In the climate we’re in, that they dressed her up as a baby to make pornographic OnlyFans content was beyond troubling,” Ward told Variety. She argued that the scenes wrongly suggest sex workers are willing to do anything for money.

Ward also said the storyline contributes to false ideas linking sex work with abuse and exploitation.

The criticism adds to a larger debate around Euphoria and creator Sam Levinson. Since the show first premiered, some viewers and critics have questioned how the series portrays its female characters and sexual content.

Cast members including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer have defended the show in past interviews. However, reactions to Season 3 have been more divided, with some fans saying the newer storylines feel more controversial and less grounded than earlier seasons.

The debate over Cassie’s OnlyFans storyline has become one of the most discussed parts of the new season online.
