Kathy Griffin Hospitalized After Colonoscopy Complications, Says She’s Recovering at Home

Kathy Griffin says she is recovering after being hospitalized for complications following a colonoscopy.

The 65-year-old comedian shared the update on Instagram Thursday, saying she spent the night in the hospital after the procedure but is now back home resting with her dogs. She did not explain what complications occurred.

Fans quickly responded with messages wishing her a speedy recovery.

A colonoscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the large intestine and screen for conditions such as colorectal cancer, blockages, or ulcers.

Griffin has spoken publicly about several health issues in recent years. In 2021, she revealed she had Stage 1 lung cancer and underwent surgery to remove part of her left lung. She later announced she was cancer-free. In April 2025, she also shared that she had a hysterectomy after doctors found a pre-cancerous condition.

Her update comes days after comedian Amy Schumer said she experienced complications from a colonoscopy as well.
