Natalie Maines Criticizes Trump in New Instagram Post, White House Fires Back

Natalie Maines of The Chicks criticized President Donald Trump in a recent Instagram post, accusing him and the U.S. government of undermining democracy. In the post shared Monday, Maines used harsh language toward Trump and referenced the January 6 Capitol riot and the Epstein files. She also claimed a previous post criticizing Trump had been removed.

The White House responded through spokesperson Davis Ingle, who dismissed Maines’ comments and criticized her personally.

Maines has a long history of political activism. In 2003, she faced major backlash after criticizing President George W. Bush and the Iraq War during a concert in London. The controversy led to radio bans, fan protests, and a decline in The Chicks’ country music career.

In later interviews, Maines and her bandmates said they experienced an early form of “cancel culture” because of their political views. Maines has also said that politics became inseparable from the band’s music and public identity.
