Security Guard Takes Responsibility in Chappell Roan Brazil Incident

The security guard involved in the recent controversy surrounding Chappell Roan has spoken publicly for the first time, taking responsibility for an incident that upset a young girl during a hotel stay in Brazil.

Pascal Duvier, a well-known security professional who has previously worked with Kim Kardashian, confirmed on March 25, 2026, that he was the guard involved in the confrontation. The incident took place at a hotel in São Paulo during the Lollapalooza Brazil weekend.

In his statement, Duvier said he was not working for Roan at the time. He explained that he was at the hotel for another client and was not part of the singer’s security team or management.

“I take full responsibility for the interactions,” Duvier said. He described his actions as a “judgment call” based on information he received about a possible security risk at the hotel. While he said his intentions were calm, he admitted the outcome was “regretful,” especially since it left a child in tears.

The situation began on March 21 when Brazilian footballer Jorginho and his wife, Catherine Harding, accused a security guard of aggressively confronting Harding’s 11-year-old daughter, Ada Law. Ada is also the daughter of actor Jude Law.

According to the family, the girl had simply walked past Roan’s breakfast table, smiled, and tried to confirm it was the singer. They allege the guard then approached their table, accused the child of harassment, and threatened to report the situation to hotel management. The incident reportedly left the girl “extremely shaken.”

Roan had earlier denied any involvement. In a video statement, she said she did not see the child or her mother and confirmed the guard was not working for her. She also apologized to the family, saying they “did not deserve that.”

Despite her response, the incident has sparked backlash online, with some critics questioning her public image and past interactions with fans and photographers. Others have defended her, arguing she should not be blamed for actions taken by a security guard she did not employ.

The controversy has also drawn political attention. Eduardo Cavaliere, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, said on social media that Roan would not be welcome to perform at major beach concerts in the city while he is in office.

Supporters of the singer say the backlash is unfair and describe it as a smear campaign, while critics argue the situation adds to concerns about how security teams interact with fans in public spaces.

The incident continues to generate debate as more details emerge.
