The project was revealed on March 25, 2026, by Angela Jain, Disney+’s Head of Content for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, during a keynote at the Series Mania festival in France.
The documentary will look back at Duffy’s life and career, including her early years in Wales, her rapid rise to fame, and her sudden disappearance from the public eye. It will also include her personal account of the ordeal she first shared publicly in 2020.
According to Disney+, the film will offer “unprecedented access” to the singer. Duffy will speak in detail about being drugged, kidnapped, and sexually assaulted—something she has never discussed in a full-length filmed interview before.
The documentary is being produced by Rare TV and Stellify Media. Production is expected to begin soon, though no release date has been announced yet.
Duffy became a global star in the late 2000s with her debut album Rockferry. She won a Grammy Award and three Brit Awards, with hit songs like “Mercy” and “Warwick Avenue.” However, she stepped away from the spotlight after 2011.
In February 2020, Duffy explained her absence in a social media post, revealing that she had been held captive and abused over several days. She said she needed years to recover and heal.
Since then, she has mostly stayed out of public life, apart from sharing a few unreleased songs during the pandemic. This upcoming documentary marks her first major public project in years.
