Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Son Joseph Baena Dominates in First Competitive Appearance

Joseph Baena, the 28-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger, made his competitive bodybuilding debut on March 28, 2026, at the NPC Natural Colorado State competition, earning multiple top placements in his first outing.

Baena competed in several divisions and secured first place in Men’s Open Bodybuilding (Heavyweight), as well as first place in both the True Novice and Novice categories of Men’s Classic Physique. He also placed second in the Men’s Classic Physique Open Class C division. The results mark a strong entry into the sport after several years of training and building a fitness presence online.

His preparation included direct involvement from his father. In the lead-up to the competition, Baena shared training sessions from Gold’s Gym in Venice, California, where Arnold Schwarzenegger was seen coaching him on posing and technique. Baena also referenced his father’s well-known training philosophy, using the phrase “shock the muscles” in social media posts.

Observers noted similarities between Baena’s physique and Schwarzenegger’s during his early competitive years, particularly in posing style and upper-body development.

Baena chose to compete in a natural bodybuilding event, which requires drug testing and polygraph screening. This places him within a segment of the sport that emphasizes drug-free competition, distinguishing it from untested divisions.

With these results, Baena has qualified for higher-level NPC competitions that can lead to IFBB Pro status. While he continues work in real estate and acting, his performance suggests a potential shift toward a more serious competitive bodybuilding career.
