Despite the diagnosis, she continued working and completed 16 rounds of chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy. She remained committed to her role on the show and did not miss filming.
Earlier in March 2026, Schilling revealed that her cancer had spread to her brain. She said at the time that there were no further treatment options available.
Schilling was a key figure on both the Australian and UK versions of Married at First Sight. She worked as a relationship expert on the Australian series for 12 seasons and became known for her direct advice and strong support for women.
