Tom Felton Calls Emma Watson His Biggest Inspiration from Harry Potter

Tom Felton has paid a heartfelt tribute to his former co-star Emma Watson, praising her strength and resilience as a child actor during the early days of the Harry Potter film series.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast on March 26, 2026, Felton said there is “no one” he admires more than Watson, who was cast as Hermione Granger at just nine years old. He highlighted the intense pressure she faced growing up in the spotlight, especially as a young girl navigating global fame.

Felton noted that Watson’s experience came with an “added dimension” and a level of complexity he could not personally relate to. He said his admiration for her has only grown over time, describing their relationship as a lifelong friendship built on mutual support.

The actor, now 38, also reflected on their enduring bond, calling it a “kinship” that has lasted for more than two decades since they first worked together on the films.

Felton’s comments come during a busy period for many members of the franchise’s cast. He is currently reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. He has also recently reunited with co-star Daniel Radcliffe, who is also performing on Broadway.

During the same podcast appearance, Felton revealed he has reached out to Lox Pratt, the young actor cast as Draco Malfoy in the upcoming HBO reboot series, offering guidance and encouragement as he steps into the iconic role.

Felton’s admiration for Watson is not new. In his 2022 memoir, Beyond the Wand, he described her as his “soulmate” in a platonic sense, emphasizing that they have always supported each other both on and off screen.
