Charlie Sheen Says He Still Hasn’t Reconnected With Jon Cryer After Documentary

Charlie Sheen says he still hasn’t reconnected with his former Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer following the release of the documentary aka Charlie Sheen, which revisits the fallout from Sheen’s highly publicized exit from the sitcom in 2011.

Speaking to People at a For Your Consideration event in Los Angeles on April 22, Sheen said he has thought reaching out but hasn’t followed through. “Every time this comes up, I say I’m going to and I never do,” he said. “I don’t like to bother people. But I think Jon would be open to that.” He added that Cryer is “a lovely man and a very talented guy.”

During a panel discussion at the event, Sheen joked about Cryer’s absence. Referring to comments Cryer made in the documentary, Sheen said he wasn’t surprised, then added playfully, “Jon’s not here tonight, is he? No, he’s a little grudgy like a decade and a half later. I’m like, ‘Dude, what the f---? I got over it. What are we doing, Jon?’”

Despite the tension, Sheen expressed appreciation for those who participated in the documentary. He acknowledged that former colleagues could have declined to revisit the past but chose not to. “They could have easily said, ‘I lived it. I don’t need to talk about it again,’” he said. “But they didn’t, and they stepped up.”

Sheen also discussed the release of both the documentary and his memoir, The Book of Sheen, which debuted in September 2025. He described the experience as “relieved,” noting that each format allowed him to tell different parts of his story. Some moments translated better visually, he said, while others were better suited to writing.

He recalled initially being unsure about participating in the documentary when director Andrew Renzi approached him. “I said, ‘Why are you so interested?’” Sheen explained. Renzi told him that his life story was unique both inside and outside the entertainment industry, which ultimately convinced Sheen to take part.

Renzi said Sheen’s perspective is rare. “There’s only one Charlie Sheen,” he said, adding that few people with similar experiences would be willing—or able—to reflect on them publicly.

Now eight years sober, Sheen said he would not have taken on either project if he were still struggling with substance use. He added that, in his view, the story ultimately carries a sense of resolution, regardless of its ups and downs.
