Denise Richards Mourns Patrick Muldoon Ahead of Release of His Final Film Dirty Hands

Actor Patrick Muldoon has died, prompting an outpouring of tributes from friends, family, and colleagues, including actress Denise Richards, who described him as a longtime friend and former partner.

Richards shared her grief on social media Thursday, noting that the two had planned to promote their new film Dirty Hands together this week. Muldoon died on April 19, just days before the movie’s release.

“Pat and I were supposed to do press this week,” she wrote. “He was so passionate about this movie and worked so hard on it.”

Dirty Hands is a crime thriller starring Richards, Muldoon, and Kevin Interdonato, who also wrote and directed the film. It is scheduled for release in theaters and on streaming platforms Friday. Richards said Muldoon had been closely connected to many people involved in the project and was proud of the final result.

The two actors first worked together in the 1997 film Starship Troopers and remained close for decades. They also dated earlier in their careers. Richards reflected on their long history, noting they met in an acting class when she was 19 and he was 21.

“You were my best friend and my family,” she wrote in an earlier tribute. “My whole adult life, and I don’t know it without you.”

Richards’ daughters, Sami and Lola Sheen, also shared personal messages about Muldoon, describing him as a significant presence in their lives growing up. Lola said he had been a constant figure in her childhood, while Sami highlighted the close and enduring friendship between Muldoon and her mother.

Muldoon was known for his work in television and film, including roles on Days of Our Lives and recent appearances in the 2025 Hallmark movie Double Scoop and the crime film The Corner.

Tributes have continued from others in the entertainment industry, including actress Tori Spelling and members of Muldoon’s family.

Dirty Hands will be released as Muldoon’s final film project.
