Muldoon died on April 19 at the age of 57. According to reports, he was found unconscious in his Beverly Hills home by his girlfriend.
Richards and Muldoon worked together on several projects over the years, including the 1997 film Starship Troopers. Their latest film, Dirty Hands, is their final project together. Richards said Muldoon personally brought the project to her, and she agreed to join because of their long friendship, which lasted nearly 40 years.
Speaking in a recent interview, Richards described their working relationship as close and supportive. She said they always enjoyed being on set together and trusted each other deeply.
Promoting Dirty Hands has been difficult for Richards, as Muldoon’s death was unexpected. However, she said she believes he would have wanted the film to be completed and shared with audiences because he cared deeply about the project.
Richards said she has not yet watched the final version of the film and is not emotionally ready to do so. Her daughters, who were also close to Muldoon, have not seen it either.
Despite the grief, Richards said she is grateful to have the film as a lasting memory of their time together. She also praised Muldoon’s performance in the movie, calling it his best work.
After his death, Richards shared a tribute on social media, describing Muldoon as her best friend and someone who had been an important part of her life since they met in acting class as young adults.
