Jenny McCarthy Shuts Down Jim Carrey “Clone” Conspiracy After César Awards Appearance

Jenny McCarthy has dismissed online conspiracy theories claiming that her former partner, actor Jim Carrey, was replaced by a “clone” or body double during a recent public appearance.

The rumors began after Carrey attended the 51st César Awards in Paris on February 26, 2026, where he received an honorary award. Social media users questioned his appearance, pointing to changes in his facial features, hairstyle, and even his eye color under stage lighting. Some also cited his polished French-language acceptance speech as unusual.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 26, McCarthy rejected those claims outright. “It was definitely Jim Carrey,” she said, adding that she recognized him immediately.

Rather than focusing on his appearance, McCarthy emphasized his demeanor at the event. “He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him,” she said. “That’s the first thing I noticed.”

Her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, supported her comments, suggesting that public attention often fixates too heavily on how celebrities look, rather than how they are doing personally.

The speculation had gained additional traction after drag artist and prosthetics expert Alexis Stone shared images of a highly realistic Jim Carrey mask online. Some users interpreted this as evidence that Carrey’s appearance in Paris could have been part of a staged or artistic performance.

However, organizers of the César Awards and Carrey’s representatives have confirmed that he attended the ceremony in person. They also noted that he spent months preparing his acceptance speech in French and was accompanied by family members, including his daughter.

Observers familiar with the situation attribute Carrey’s different appearance to natural aging, possible cosmetic treatments, and the effects of lighting and camera angles during the event.

There is no credible evidence supporting claims that the person on stage was anyone other than Jim Carrey.
