He made the comments during a live appearance at the Hollywood Palladium on the SiriusXM show Smartless, hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes. Hill, who became famous for comedy films like Superbad and Knocked Up and later earned Oscar nominations for Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street, has kept a lower profile in recent years.
Hill explained that he stepped back partly because he wasn’t feeling happy. He focused on his personal life instead. He is now married to Olivia Millar, and they have two young children. The family lives in a small town in San Diego, away from Los Angeles. Hill said this change has made him happier and helped him reconnect with his love of comedy.
He also spoke about dealing with anxiety, which led him in 2022 to reduce public appearances after many years in the spotlight.
Now, Hill says he feels ready to perform again and make people laugh. He recently released a new film, Outcome, on Apple TV+, which he wrote, directed, and starred in. The movie is a satire about Hollywood and features actors like Keanu Reeves and Cameron Diaz.
Looking ahead, Hill will star in and direct another comedy called Cut Off, alongside Kristen Wiig. The film is about two wealthy siblings who lose access to their family’s money. It is expected to be released in theaters on July 17.
Hill said he hopes to make more comedies in the future and even aims to release a funny movie every year. He also mentioned he is open to acting in projects led by other filmmakers again.
