Kanye West Faces $850K Lawsuit From Former Security Guard

Kanye West, also known as Ye, is facing a new lawsuit from a former security guard, adding to a series of recent legal and professional setbacks.

According to court filings dated April 8, 2026, Jonathan Monroe, who worked as a full-time security guard for Ye in 2021, is seeking about $850,000 in damages. Monroe claims he was not fully paid for his work and is owed wages and overtime.

The lawsuit breaks down the requested damages into several categories. Monroe is asking for $37,620 in unpaid wages and $7,725 in unpaid overtime. He is also seeking $500,000 for lost future earnings, along with $200,000 for pain, suffering, and punitive damages.

In the filing, Monroe alleges that he was repeatedly given excuses when he asked to be paid. He describes one incident in which Ye allegedly told him to fill up a Lamborghini with gas but then walked away without providing any money or payment method.

This lawsuit comes during a difficult period for Ye, who has faced multiple legal and professional issues in recent weeks.

On April 7, 2026, the UK’s Wireless Festival was canceled after Ye was denied entry into the country. The British Home Office said his presence was “not conducive to the public good,” citing past antisemitic remarks. Major sponsors, including Pepsi and Diageo, had already withdrawn from the event before it was canceled.

In another case, a jury in mid-March found Ye liable for workplace injuries suffered by Tony Saxon, a project manager involved in renovations at Ye’s Malibu property. The jury awarded Saxon about $140,000, but legal analysts expect the total cost to rise significantly once legal fees and additional expenses are included.

Reports from that trial also noted unusual courtroom behavior by Ye, with some jurors claiming he appeared to fall asleep while testifying.

The new lawsuit from Monroe adds to mounting legal pressure on the artist, whose recent controversies continue to affect both his business ventures and public standing.
