Kate Beckinsale Claims She Was Dropped by Agent Over Gaza Ceasefire Post

Actor Kate Beckinsale has publicly accused her former talent agent of dropping her over her views on the Israel-Gaza conflict, raising broader questions about political expression and gender bias in Hollywood.

In comments posted in early April 2026 on a social media video shared by actor Mark Ruffalo, Beckinsale said she was fired by her agent of 12 years after she “liked a post about a ceasefire” in Gaza. She claimed the decision was sudden and came without prior conflict in their professional relationship. According to Beckinsale, the agent had sent her a gift just a week before terminating their arrangement.

She also pointed to the timing of the decision, noting it happened shortly after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended and during a period of personal hardship. At the time, she said she was caring for her mother, who had been diagnosed with brain cancer, and dealing with the aftermath of her stepfather’s severe stroke.

Beckinsale linked her situation to that of actor Susan Sarandon, who was reportedly dropped by her agency in late 2023 following comments about the same conflict. Beckinsale suggested her own dismissal reflected a similar pattern.

Her comments were directed in part at Mark Ruffalo, who has been outspoken on political issues related to Gaza and was promoting a project titled Palestine 36. Beckinsale noted that Ruffalo is represented by the same agent who allegedly dropped her, arguing this reflects a “double standard” in how male and female actors are treated.

She wrote that “having a penis in Hollywood counts for a lot,” framing the issue as one of gender-based disparity. Beckinsale also said she had contacted Ruffalo privately months earlier to discuss the matter but did not receive a response.

Despite the criticism, Beckinsale emphasized that she supports Ruffalo’s advocacy and does not hold him personally responsible. Instead, she described his continued representation as an example of broader structural privilege within the industry, including among individuals she considers well-intentioned.

As of now, neither Ruffalo nor the agency in question has publicly responded to Beckinsale’s claims.

The allegations have circulated widely on social media, where they have prompted renewed debate about whether actors face professional consequences for political speech, and whether those consequences differ along gender lines.
