Kristin Cavallari Says Secret ‘Hills’ Romance Led to Cameraman’s Firing

Kristin Cavallari has revealed new details about a previously undisclosed relationship during her time on The Hills, saying the romance ultimately led to a crew member losing his job.

Speaking on an April 2026 episode of her podcast Let’s Be Honest, Cavallari discussed the situation with former Laguna Beach co-star Lauren Conrad. She said that during the final season of The Hills in 2010, she secretly dated a cameraman named Miguel Medina.

According to Cavallari, the relationship lasted a few months and was kept out of the public eye. She explained that the two tried to avoid attention by going on dates in quieter areas of Los Angeles, including Silver Lake. Despite the relationship, Cavallari said they attempted to remain professional on set, even when Medina was filming scenes involving her on-screen storyline.

At the same time, Cavallari was appearing in a highly publicized romance with Brody Jenner on the show. She reiterated that this relationship was staged for television. Jenner was, in reality, dating model Jayde Nicole, and Cavallari said some of the apparent conflicts with Nicole shown on the series were also fabricated.

The secret relationship became public when paparazzi photographed Cavallari and Medina at an airport while they were traveling to Canada for the MuchMusic Awards. The images surfaced about a week before production wrapped on the show.

Cavallari said that once producers became aware of the situation, Medina was fired immediately. She recalled arguing with The Hills creator Adam DiVello about the decision, suggesting that production would not have known about the relationship if the photos had not been taken.

While Cavallari had briefly referenced the relationship in a 2020 episode of Very Cavallari, she said the recent podcast episode provided more detail about what happened behind the scenes and how the discovery affected production.
