Olivia Munn Says Co-Star Halted Filming Over Refusal to Be “Saved”

Actress Olivia Munn has described an on-set dispute with an unnamed male co-star that briefly halted production during the filming of an action scene, according to remarks she made on The Drew Barrymore Show in April 2026.

Munn said the incident occurred while shooting a bunker firefight sequence. In the scripted version of the scene, her character and the male lead were positioned on opposite sides, covering different angles before switching places. As they rotated, an enemy was supposed to appear behind the male character, prompting Munn’s character to shoot the attacker and prevent him from being killed.

According to Munn, the actor objected once he understood how the scene would play out. She recalled him stopping the shoot and saying, “Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. She can’t save me. No, no. She can’t save me.” Munn said the objection led to a prolonged discussion with the director in front of the crew.

She characterized the behavior as openly disruptive, noting that the actor appeared unconcerned about delaying production or drawing attention. Filming was paused for roughly 45 minutes while the disagreement continued. The actor reportedly argued that being “saved” in the scene conflicted with how he viewed his character, particularly in terms of projecting masculine self-reliance.

To resolve the situation, Munn proposed a minor adjustment to how the moment was framed in dialogue rather than changing the action itself. She suggested presenting the sequence as a coordinated tactical move, where her character was “getting her guy,” instead of explicitly rescuing him.

The actor accepted the revised wording, and filming resumed without further changes to the physical scene. Munn noted that the outcome on screen remained the same, with her character still taking the shot, but the shift in phrasing was enough to address the co-star’s concerns.

Munn did not identify the actor or the production involved.
