According to court filings, Kyle Richards initiated a lawsuit in January 2025 seeking to remove her sister Kim from a two-bedroom, three-bath property that Kyle had purchased in 2015. The home was originally intended to provide Kim with stable housing during a period of legal and personal difficulties, and she reportedly lived there rent-free for nearly ten years.
The situation escalated in late 2024, when Kyle asked Kim to vacate the property following what sources described as renewed personal struggles. When Kim did not leave, Kyle filed for legal possession of the condo and requested financial damages of $140 per day for each day Kim remained past the requested move-out date.
Court records show that Kim Richards did not respond to the lawsuit. As a result, a default judgment was entered in March 2025, granting Kyle legal possession of the property and ordering Kim to vacate.
By June 2025, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve the judgment, but Kim had already moved out. Kyle subsequently regained full control of the condominium.
Public updates about Kim’s condition emerged during the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” Season 14 reunion, which aired in mid-2025. Kyle Richards and their sister, Kathy Hilton, stated that Kim had relocated to Florida and was in a better place following a difficult period in 2024 that reportedly included a relapse and a brief psychiatric hold.
Sources familiar with the situation have characterized the legal action as a form of “tough love,” suggesting that the eviction was intended to push Kim toward seeking treatment and stability rather than to leave her without housing.
Although the legal proceedings concluded in 2025, the full details only became widely known in April 2026, shedding new light on the family’s private conflict and its resolution.
