Lili Reinhart Opens Up About Negative Experience With Male Director

Actor Lili Reinhart has sparked discussion online after sharing a past experience in which a director made a comment about her body during filming.

In a recent video interview with Cosmopolitan, Reinhart was asked to name an acting note she took personally while promoting her upcoming horror-comedy Forbidden Fruits. She recalled that a male director once leaned over to her on set and quietly told her to “suck in your stomach a little bit.”

Reinhart did not identify the director. Her co-stars—Victoria Pedretti, Lola Tung, and Alexandra Shipp—reacted with visible surprise during the interview. Pedretti asked for the director’s name, while Tung jokingly suggested retaliating with a “hex.” Reinhart said she would share the name privately but chose not to disclose it publicly.

The incident is not new. Reinhart previously referenced a similar experience in 2022 on social media while praising actor Jamie Lee Curtis for rejecting body concealment in Everything Everywhere All at Once. At the time, Reinhart highlighted the pressures actors face to conform to narrow physical standards.

Reinhart, 29, has spoken openly about struggling with body dysmorphia and has been critical of what she describes as Hollywood’s emphasis on “sample size” bodies. She has said that industry expectations have contributed to her insecurities, noting that certain body types are consistently rewarded and promoted.

Her latest comments align with her broader advocacy for body positivity and more inclusive representation. In recent social media posts, she has called for greater visibility of “average-sized” bodies in film and television.

Reinhart currently stars in Forbidden Fruits, a film produced by Diablo Cody. The movie follows four saleswomen in Dallas who form a coven in the basement of a clothing store. The project has been part of her ongoing effort to take on roles that challenge conventional portrayals of women on screen.
