Speaking on an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show released Wednesday, Brand reacted to news that Perry is dating Trudeau. Brand and Perry were married from 2010 to 2012.
“I've put up with a lot with that ex-wife of mine, but you took it too far,” Brand said. He contrasted his reaction with praise for Perry’s former partner Orlando Bloom, jokingly referencing Bloom’s role in The Lord of the Rings.
Brand went on to criticize Trudeau’s political record, particularly his handling of the 2022 “Freedom Convoy” protests. The demonstrations, initially organized by truck drivers opposing COVID-19 vaccine mandates for cross-border travel, expanded into broader protests against pandemic restrictions.
Trudeau’s government invoked the Emergencies Act to clear blockades and restore border access. The measure allowed authorities to freeze certain financial accounts linked to the protests. A Federal Court later ruled the use of the act unconstitutional.
During the interview, Brand disputed characterizations of some protesters as extremists and described them as “bold and brave.” He also criticized Trudeau more broadly, questioning his political style and leadership.
Brand additionally referenced a 2023 incident in which a Ukrainian veteran who had served in a Nazi unit during World War II was mistakenly honored in Canada’s Parliament. Trudeau later called the recognition a “terrible mistake” and apologized.
At the end of the discussion, Brand made a dismissive remark about Perry’s relationship, suggesting it might not last.
Brand is currently facing multiple allegations of sexual assault and rape in the United Kingdom, which he has denied. Legal proceedings related to those allegations are ongoing.
