On Saturday, the singer shared a message on Instagram about what she called her “spiritual journey.” She posted a photo of herself holding a small albino Burmese python during a visit to a pet store with her children.
“Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck,” Spears wrote. She also said she was thankful for her friends and for new people she has met recently, calling her recent struggles “a blessing in disguise.”
Spears added that she is still learning “how to be kind” to herself and said personal growth is “a never-ending journey.”
The post came shortly after Spears left a rehabilitation facility, where she reportedly stayed following legal and personal troubles earlier this year.
Her recent problems began on March 4, when California Highway Patrol officers arrested her in Ventura County on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was later charged with DUI on April 30.
Because Spears had a low blood alcohol level, no previous DUI record, and was not involved in an accident, prosecutors offered her a “wet reckless” plea deal. This allowed her to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs instead of a DUI charge.
On May 4, Spears accepted the deal and pleaded guilty. She was sentenced to 12 months of probation and may also be required to complete a DUI education program and pay fines.
Despite the recent challenges, Spears’ latest message focused on healing, gratitude, and self-improvement.
